Liverpool transfer news: Major Alexander Isak update with Newcastle United willing to give ‘serious consideration’ to deal KIK BALL

Liverpool have less than 24 hours to sign Alexander Isak, and a new report delivers a major update on the Newcastle United striker’s future.

Newcastle United have relented and will consider letting Alexander Isak join Liverpool even if they do not sign a second striker, the latest report has claimed.

The Reds are now the only team in the Premier League with a perfect record after three games following their 1-0 victory against Arsenal at Anfield on Sunday.

Arne Slot‘s side at times struggled to create chances, but a Dominik Szoboszlai free kick late in the second half was enough to take all three points.

With the match out of the way, the club will be able to focus on improving their squad before Monday’s transfer deadline at 7PM.

The Telegraph report that Newcastle would considering selling Isak to the Reds for a fee of £130m, even if they do not sign another striker this window.

Can Alexander Isak win the Premier League title for Liverpool?

Isak is yet to play a single game this term as he has not taken part in training due to his desire to secure a move away from St James’ Park.

The Swede could take some time to gain match fitness before he makes his Reds debut, but once he is up to speed, Slot will have arguably the Premier League’s best number nine available to him.

Only Mohamed Salah (29) scored more often than Isak in the top flight in 2024-25 (23), and the 25-year-old may benefit even more from the service of creative players such as Florian Wirtz and Alexis Mac Allister.

After beating Arsenal at Anfield, the boost of Isak’s arrival could help Liverpool take advantage of their positive momentum and increase their lead at the top of the table over the coming months.

How will Hugo Ekitike and Isak fit into Arne Slot’s team?

Some fans have expressed concern about how Isak’s arrival could impact current number nine Hugo Ekitike, who has scored two goals in his first three league matches.

While the Liverpool forward is versatile enough to be used out wide on the left, he is at his best when allowed to link play in central areas.

Perhaps the best course of action would be to implement a formation change to a two-striker system, especially as Ekitike has previously operated in a front two.

It remains to be seen if Slot would move away from his favoured 4-2-3-1, but it would be foolish to doubt the Dutch manager’s ability to get the best out of both Isak and Ekitike.
