Man City transfer news: ‘Verbal agreement’ reached for Ederson sale with Gianluigi Donnarumma arrival ‘expected’ by PSG KIK BALL
Man City reportedly reach an agreement with Fenerbahce over the sale of goalkeeper Ederson on transfer deadline day, while PSG ‘expect’ Gianluigi Donnarumma to make the move to the Etihad Stadium.
Manchester City have reportedly reached an agreement with Fenerbahce over the sale of goalkeeper Ederson on transfer deadline day.
The 32-year-old has entered the final year of his contract at the Etihad Stadium and speculation over his future is rife heading into latter stages of the summer window.
Ederson was left out of Man City’s matchday squad for their opening Premier League match of the new season away at Wolves, before watching on as a substitute in defeats against Tottenham and Brighton, including Sunday’s 2-1 loss at the Amex Stadium.
Earlier this summer, the six-time Premier League champion expressed his desire to stay at Man City for the 2025-26 campaign and shut down “fake news” about his future following reports of interest from the Saudi Pro League.
That has not stopped the rumour mill from linking the Brazil international with a switch to the Turkish Super Lig, though, with Fenerbahce believed to have beaten top-flight champions Galatasaray in the race for his signature.
Fenerbahce set to beat Galatasaray to Ederson signing
Galatasaray were credited with a strong interest in Ederson throughout the month of August and submitted an official offer of €10m (£8.6m) to Man City.
However, a transfer has not materialised and managerless Fenerbahce – who parted ways with Jose Mourinho last week – have swooped in to agree a deal with Pep Guardiola’s side.
According to journalist Fabrizio Romano, a verbal agreement has been reached between Fenerbahce and Man City for Ederson to join the Turkish club for a fee between €13m (£11.3m) and €14m (£12.1m).
Personal terms are said to have been agreed between Ederson’s agent Jorge Mendes and Fenerbahce director Devin Ozek, with a medical and the signing of necessary documents now expected to take place before the transfer can be finalised.
Romano adds that Man City’s pursuit of Paris Saint-Germain goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma is ‘up next’ having now agreed to sell Ederson, who looks set to leave the Etihad after eight memorable years under Guardiola.
Ederson out, Donnarumma in at Man City on deadline day?
Donnarumma, who has entered the final 12 months of his PSG contract, has been frozen out by the French champions after failing to agree terms over a contract extension and Lucas Chevalier has since been signed from Lille as his replacement.
The 26-year-old Italy international has been heavily linked with a move to the Premier League, with Manchester United said to have been one club keeping a close eye on his situation.
However, the Red Devils appear to be targeting Aston Villa’s Emiliano Martinez instead, while Donnarumma himself is thought to prefer a switch to Man City as they are competing in the Champions League this season.
According to The Athletic, PSG ‘expect’ Donnarumma to make a move to the Etihad before Monday’s transfer deadline, though a deal ultimately hinges on Ederson completing a move to Fenerbahce.
Should Donnarumma – allegedly valued under £30m by PSG – join Man City, it remains to be seen what the future holds for James Trafford, who returned to his boyhood club from Burnley for around £27m earlier this summer and has started in each of City’s first three Premier League games this season.
