Nottingham Forest transfer news: ‘Advanced talks’ held for £35m “long-term” target ahead of deadline KIK BALL
Nottingham Forest are reportedly making progress in their efforts to sign a long-term target for £35m on transfer deadline day.
Nottingham Forest are reportedly remaining persistent in their efforts to sign Strasbourg attacker Dilane Bakwa.
On the back of Sunday’s surprise 3-0 defeat at the hands of West Ham United, the future of head coach Nuno Espirito Santo is in considerable doubt.
That is largely down to behind-the-scenes issues involving transfers and style of play, yet it appears that owner Evangelos Marinakis and sporting director Edu Gaspar are still looking to deliver new players.
According to John Percy of The Telegraph, who was commenting on X, Forest have now entered advanced negotiations for Bakwa ahead of the 7pm transfer deadline.
Are Forest close to signing Bakwa?
The report alleges that discussions have restarted after Strasbourg recently rejected at least one offer from the East Midlands outfit.
Strasbourg, who are owned by Chelsea chiefs BlueCo, have relentlessly added new players during the summer transfer window, potentially with the view of facilitating another major sale.
A £35m fee plus add-ons is said to be demanded by the recent Conference League qualifiers, Forest seemingly indicating that they are prepared to meet that demand or go close to it.
Bakwa has contributed 12 goals and 21 assists from his 71 appearances in a Strasbourg shirt, and already has a phenomenal record during the early stages of 2025-26.
One goal and three assists have come from just 105 minutes of Ligue 1 football, the versatile attacker having spent time on the substitutes’ bench seemingly in anticipation of a potential sale.
