Two European clubs are reportedly giving consideration to appointing former Tottenham Hotspur head coach Ange Postecoglou as their new manager.

Former Tottenham Hotspur head coach Ange Postecoglou has allegedly emerged as a target for two European clubs.

Despite lifting the Europa League with the Premier League giants at the end of last season, Postecoglou’s two-year stint in charge was brought to an end.

Suffering 39 defeats from 101 matches did not help the Greek-Australian’s cause, but ending Spurs’ mammoth wait for silverware has put a positive spin on his tenure.

Postecoglou is seemingly prepared to wait for his next opportunity, aware that his reputation remains high at a certain level of European football.

According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, there are two specific teams who are contemplating whether to make a formal approach for his services.

Which European clubs want Postecoglou?

Romano alleges that Bayer Leverkusen and Fenerbahce both regard Postecoglou as an option to become the leading figure in their respective dugout.

On Monday, Leverkusen made the decision to sack Erik ten Hag after just three games in charge, the former Manchester United boss overseeing two winning positions which only led to one point.

Meanwhile, in the aftermath of Fenerbahce missing out on the League Phase of the Champions League, Mourinho departed his role with the Turkish giants.

With Europa League football and a squad full of high-profile names, the Fenerbahce job will prove an attractive proposition.

In both cases, a final decision has not been made, but progress is expected over the coming days ahead of the resumption of action after the international break.

Will Postecoglou bide his time?

At a time when Nottingham Forest continue to consider whether to replace Nuno Espirito Santo, Postecoglou is a name that will come into the equation should that decision be made.

Given that three high-profile clubs, all with European football, are interested in him, Postecoglou may struggle to say no to each of them.

The three months that he has currently been out of work is the longest period since a four-month period without a job from December 2008 and April 2009.
