Barcelona transfer news: Blaugrana boss Hansi Flick ‘demands’ the signing of Man United ace in 2026 KIK BALL

Barcelona are reportedly planning to make a move for Manchester United centre-back Lisandro Martinez during next sumemr’s transfer window.

Barcelona are reportedly determined to sign Manchester United centre-back Lisandro Martinez, with the Catalan outfit’s head coach Hansi Flick said to be a huge admirer of the Argentina international.

Martinez made the move to Old Trafford from Ajax in July 2022, and he has represented the Red Devils on 91 occasions, scoring three goals and registering three assists in the process.

The 27-year-old made 45 appearances during his first season in English football, but he has struggled with injuries over the last couple of campaigns, and the centre-back has been out since February with a serious knee issue.

Martinez is on track to return to action before the end of the year, and he is expected to be a part of Ruben Amorim’s strongest XI when he does return to full fitness.

However, according to Fichajes, the Red Devils could face a battle to keep hold of the defender, with Barcelona believed to be exploring the possibility of signing him.

Barcelona ‘eyeing move’ for Man United defender Martinez

The report claims that Martinez is ‘very popular’ with Barcelona head coach Flick, who believes that he would be the perfect fit for the La Liga champions.

Barcelona are expected to move for a left-footed centre-back in 2026, having allowed Inigo Martinez to make the move to Al-Nassr, with the Catalan outfit having defensive problems early this season.

Blaugrana also allegedly have Inter Milan’s Alessandro Bastoni on their radar, and the signs are pointing towards a big-money defender arriving during next summer’s transfer window.

Martinez is currently focusing on getting back to fitness, and a strong second half of the campaign would put him in contention to be included in the Argentina squad for the 2026 World Cup.

Should Man United let Martinez leave?

For as long as Amorim is Man United manager, the Red Devils will play with a back three, and there are not many better left-sided centre-backs in world football than a fit Martinez.

He is perfect for the left-sided role, and although Luke Shaw has impressed in that area, Martinez’s return will be huge for Man United due to his ability to start attacks from deep positions.

As a result, the Red Devils should strongly resist interest in Martinez, as the Argentine is also the type of character that Amorim needs in the team if the club are to return to their glory years.
