Wolves transfer news: RB Leipzig, Roma ‘negotiating’ Fabio Silva fee as Premier League side play hardball KIK BALL
Wolverhampton Wanderers are allegedly continuing to play hardball over a transfer fee for Fabio Silva despite the Portugal international seemingly being ready to join one of three clubs.
Wolverhampton Wanderers have reportedly remained unrelenting in their stance over the likely sale of Fabio Silva.
Despite starring for Las Palmas in 2024-25, there is no way back for Silva at Molineux with all parties looking to facilitate an exit.
With less than 12 months remaining on his contract, Wolves will realistically cash in on the Portugal international before the September 1 deadline.
RB Leipzig, Borussia Dortmund and Roma are all bidding to sign the 23-year-old but they are struggling to reach a deal with Wolves.
As per two different reports, the Premier League club are continuing to stand firm over their asking price.
What is Fabio Silva situation?
According to Sky Sport Deutschland, Leipzig have a verbal agreement in place with Silva and are seemingly prepared to push through a transfer.
However, it is claimed that Wolves are still demanding at least €25m (£21.56m) to allow Silva to finalise a move to Leipzig, aware that the Bundesliga side have money available after allowing Benjamin Sesko to move to Manchester United.
Meanwhile, Corriere dello Sport reports that Roma are also pushing for Silva’s signature and have been met with Wolves wanting in excess of €20m (£17.25m).
Roma had previously been targeting a loan agreement with obligation, but that would have involved Silva penning a contract extension at Wolves. As it stands, it appears that they wish to pay no more than €13m (£11.21m).
Journalist Rudy Galetti has added that Dortmund have failed with a third offer to sign Silva.
Fosun International creating frustration at Wolves
Although Wolves have added David Moller Wolfe, Fer Lopez and Jhon Arias to their squad during the summer transfer window, the club’s net-spend currently stands at a bare minimum of £40m profit accompanied by a heavily-reduced wage bill.
Players have turned down the chance to move to Molineux, something that cannot necessarily be blamed on owners Fosun International.
Nevertheless, playing hardball over an unwanted player such as Silva at a time when they seemingly require the funds to strengthen Vitor Pereira‘s squad will only lead to more frustration among the fanbase.
Ahead of facing Manchester City in the Premier League on Saturday evening, Wolves still require a right wing-back, central midfielder and a backup centre-forward.
There is an argument that they could also benefit from one more central defender and another creative player, too, having failed to win any of their six pre-season games.
