The high-profile saga surrounding the 25-year-old has been dominating the talk of the summer window, and Newcastle now look set to lose their star striker despite expressing a firm desire to retain his services.
Liverpool had an opening offer of £110m for Isak rejected by Eddie Howe‘s side earlier this summer, but it has since been reported that both clubs have now agreed a total transfer package worth a whopping £130m.
Isak’s transfer to Anfield will see Arne Slot’s summer spending surpass £400m and will also set a new Premier League transfer record, surpassing the £107m Chelsea forked out to sign Enzo Fernandez from Benfica in January 2023.
Liverpool’s big-money signing of Florian Wirtz from Bayer Leverkusen earlier this summer is allegedly amounted to a total package of £116m, with an initial fee of £100m plus £16m in potential bonuses.
According to The Athletic, Isak is expected to put pen to paper on a six-year contract at Liverpool and he will undergo a medical on deadline day before finalising his much-anticipated move to Merseyside.
Isak looks set to leave Newcastle on sour terms after releasing a bombshell statement in which h claimed that he has “lost trust” in the Magpies after accusing the club of “broken promises”.
The expected departure of Isak, who has contributed with 62 goals and 11 assists in 109 appearances for across all tournaments, comes following the Magpies’ club-record capture of Nick Woltemade from Stuttgart last weekend.
