Alexander Isak to Liverpool: ‘Total agreement’ for transfer to Arne Slot’s side as Newcastle United striker set for medical KIK BALL
Liverpool reach an agreement with Newcastle United to sign striker Alexander Isak ahead of Monday’s transfer deadline, with a medical set to take place.
Liverpool have reportedly agreed to pay a total package of £130m to sign Alexander Isak from Newcastle United this summer.
The Swede was previously seen as unattainable given he had three years left on his deal, but the Premier League champions managed to convince the forward to push for a move to Merseyside.
Isak did not take part in pre-season training with the Magpies and even issued a statement on social media, claiming that a transfer away from St Jams’ Park would be best for all parties.
Liverpool did have an initial bid of £110m rejected by the Toon for the 25-year-old, with various reports suggesting they would only make a second bid once they had received encouragement from the Tyneside club.
David Ornstein of The Athletic has now claimed that Newcastle have accepted Liverpool’s proposal of an initial fee totalling £125m, with a further £5m to be paid due to solidarity payments.
The transfer expert also reports that a medical is set to take place on Monday, and the striker would become the most expensive player in the history of the Premier League.
Liverpool’s total expenditure would exceed the £400m mark, but the final fee for Isak is below the initial price of £150m that had ben touted.
