Atletico Madrid ‘close’ to signing Juventus winger following Leeds United interest KIK BALL
Atletico Madrid are reportedly close to agreeing a loan deal for Juventus winger Nico Gonzalez, with Leeds United also keen on the Argentine attacker.
Atletico Madrid are reportedly set to announce the signing of Juventus man Nico Gonzalez before the end of the summer window.
The 27-year-old has featured for the Old Lady in Serie A this season, playing for the final 10 minutes of the win over Parma on August 24.
Gonzalez made the switch across Italian battlelines from Fiorentina to Juve during the summer of 2024 on a temporary deal.
The Argentine then made the move permanent this summer after earning 37 appearances for the Serie A giants last season.
Gonzalez commenced his professional career as a teenager in Argentina, playing 47 times for Argentinos Juniors, scoring 11 goals.
Atletico close to dashing Leeds dreams?
According to transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano, Atletico Madrid are edging towards the singing of Juventus man Gonzalez.
The report claims that the La Liga powerhouses and Juve are ‘very close’ to agreeing the transfer of the 27-year-old to Spain.
It is understood that Gonzalez will move to Madrid on a temporary deal for the remainder of the 2025-26 season, with a loan fee attached.
Furthemore, it is believed that Atletico Madrid will have the obligation to purchase the winger next summer if certain criteria is met.
The news is a major blow to the plans of Leeds, who were known to be keen on securing the services of Gonzalez this summer.
Leeds start steadily
With newly-promoted sides struggling to adapt to the Premier League over recent seasons, Leeds have made a solid start to life back in the top flight.
Daniel Farke‘s troops secured an opening-gameweek success over Everton at Elland Road courtesy of a late Lukas Nmecha penalty.
Leeds have gone two games without a win in the Premier League since, though, losing at Arsenal before drawing with Newcastle United.
