Chelsea transfer news: Marc Guiu return ‘expected’ as Sunderland ‘enter talks’ to sign replacement KIK BALL

Sunderland loan signing Marc Guiu is reportedly ‘expected’ to return to parent club Chelsea on transfer deadline day, with the Black Cats in talks to sign a Netherland international as his replacement.

Sunderland striker Marc Guiu is set to return to parent club Chelsea on transfer deadline day, according to a report.

The 19-year-old joined the newly-promoted Black Cats on a season-long loan deal earlier this summer and he has since made three first-team appearances, including two substitute outings in the Premier League.

Guiu also scored in an EFL Cup second-round defeat on penalties to Huddersfield Town last week, but the young striker now looks set to make a swift return to Stamford Bridge.

BBC Sport claims that Chelsea are in talks to recall Guiu from his Sunderland loan spell amid uncertainty around the future of Nicolas Jackson and following an injury picked up by Liam Delap.

Chelsea had agreed to loan Jackson to Bayern Munich and the striker travelled to Germany with his agent to finalise the move, but that deal has now been called off after Delap was forced off with a hamstring injury in the Blues’ 2-0 win over Fulham on Saturday.

Journalist Fabrizio Romano claims that Guiu is now ‘expected’ to return to Chelsea on deadline day, and Sunderland are working on a deal to sign Ajax striker Brian Brobbey as a potential replacement.

Romano adds that striking an agreement with the Netherlands international will ‘not be easy’, but Regis Le Bris’s side have entered talks to try and get a deal done before the deadline.

Brobbey, 23, has made a total of 163 senior appearances across two spells at his boyhood club Ajax, scoring 56 goals including just four strikes in 30 Eredivisie games last season.
