Paris Saint-Germain have finally confirmed the signing of Bournemouth defender Illia Zabarnyi.
Throughout the summer transfer window, the European champions have been pushing hard to secure a deal for the Ukraine international.
Despite being willing to offer in excess of £50m for a number of weeks, PSG have been rebuffed by their Cherries counterparts who have lobbied for a higher fee.
However, it has now been formally announced that Zabarnyi has finalised a switch to Parc des Princes for a fee just short of £57m.
After joining Luis Enrique’s squad, the centre-back told the club’s official website: “I’’m very happy to join Paris Saint-Germain, the best club in the world, with the best project.
“I am here to give everything I have on the pitch and I’m looking forward to making my debut and meeting the fans.”
Zabarnyi departs the Vitality Stadium having made 78 appearances in the Premier League since his arrival at the start of 2023.
Newcastle star attracting Ligue 1 interest
Meanwhile, staying in Ligue 1 and Monaco are allegedly interested in signing Newcastle United defender Kieran Trippier.
Despite his status at St James’ Park, there was speculation during the winter transfer window that the former England international was ready to depart the Magpies.
The 34-year-old subsequently stayed and he has reached 123 appearances for the club, contributing four goals and 25 assists.
Nevertheless, as per Sky Sports News journalist Keith Downie, Monaco are looking to take advantage of the veteran having less than 12 months remaining on his contract.
As this point, Newcastle are said to be against parting ways with Trippier, particularly when considering they have struggled to add to their squad during the summer.
Monaco have already added Trippier’s former Tottenham Hotspur teammate Eric Dier to their squad for the upcoming campaign.
