Man United summer transfer window 2025: Top targets, budget, most likely signings and priority positions KIK BALL
Sports Mole takes a look at Man United’s top targets, budget, most likely signings and priority positions for the 2025 summer transfer window.
Everyone associated with Manchester United is keen to swiftly move on from a disastrous 2024-25 campaign and an important summer transfer window is in progress for head coach Ruben Amorim, as he endeavours to bring back the glory days to Old Trafford.
Sir Jim Ratcliffe and co have already made some much-needed changes to the makeup of Amorim’s squad, but just how many more players arrive at the club before the end of the transfer window remains to be seen.
A difficult start to the campaign has increased Manchester United’s need to be active on deadline day, especially in the goalkeeping position, where Altay Bayindir and Andre Onana have already been guilty of a string of errors after just four matches of the season.
Here, Sports Mole takes a look at Man United’s top targets, budget, most likely signings and priority positions for the 2025 summer transfer window.

The financial implications of Man United failing to secure Champions League football for the 2025-26 campaign are significant, as the Red Devils are understood to have missed out on around £15.7m as well as additional earnings through performance-related bonuses.
As a result, it had been reported that Amorim’s spending power might be heavily restricted as Man United would only have a budget of around £100m without player sales, but it has been a busy summer thus far.
Man United’s budget has increased because of a plethora of cuts made by Ratcliffe, including the latest round of redundancies that has taken the total number of job losses at Old Trafford to about 450.
The 20-time English top-flight champions have already generated £40m from the sale of Alejandro Garnacho to Chelsea, while talks are ongoing for the potential departure of Antony, Jadon Sancho and Tyrell Malacia in the final hours of the window.
Marcus Rashford, meanwhile, has left on loan to join Barcelona, with Man United removing a huge salary from their budget, which has done a lot for them financially.
Man United’s top targets for 2025 summer transfer window
Man United wasted little time trying to improve Amorim’s squad as they announced on the first day of the summer transfer window the arrival of versatile forward Matheus Cunha from Wolverhampton Wanderers for £62.5m, agreeing to a structure of payment over two years.
The Red Devils were also hoping to wrap up a deal for Ipswich Town’s Liam Delap, but they then turned to alternative targets as the ex-Man City striker joined Premier League rivals Chelsea.
Manchester United first focused their efforts on bringing Bryan Mbeumo to Old Trafford from Brentford, while the Red Devils then secured the signing of Benjamin Sesko from RB Leipzig, beating Newcastle United to his signature.
Following a series of high-profile mistakes from both Bayindir and Onana in just the first four matches of the new season, Man Utd are now making a late effort to sign a new goalkeeper on the final day of the window, while there remains potential interest in signing a new central midfielder.
Emiliano Martinez appears to be Man Utd’s number one target for the goalkeeping department, though a deal for Royal Antwerp’s Senne Lammens remains a possibility.
Man United’s priority positions for 2025 summer transfer window
Man United spent over £100m on Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee across the last two summer windows, but both strikers have failed to reach the heights expected at Old Trafford, hence why Amorim has signed a new striker.
Hojlund could now move on, with Napoli reportedly agreeing a deal to bring the Denmark International to the club on an initial loan with a conditional obligation to buy.
The Red Devils could also be in the market for a new centre midfielder, as Christian Eriksen has left, while Casemiro and Kobbie Mainoo are facing uncertain futures at Old Trafford. Captain Bruno Fernandes is set to stay at Old Trafford, though, after turning down a lucrative move to Saudi Arabia.
In addition, Man United have been tipped to delve into the summer market for a new goalkeeper to replace current first-choice shot-stopper Andre Onana; Aston Villa’s Martinez and Royal Antwerp’s Lammens are reportedly their two top targets in that position.
Man United’s most likely signings in 2025 summer transfer window
Man United are working to bring a new central midfielder to the club, and their leading target had been Brighton & Hove Albion’s Carlos Baleba, but a move for the Cameroon international is now viewed as impossible.
Brighton allegedly want in the region of £100m for the midfielder, making a deal very difficult, so the 21-year-old is set to remain at the Amex for at least another 12 months.
Sevilla’s Lucien Agoume is viewed as a possible target, while Crystal Palace’s Adam Wharton and Atalanta BC’s Ederson are also on Man United’s radar late in the summer transfer window.
A new goalkeeper arrival is also expected, with a move for Martinez reportedly in progress, while the club have been holding talks with Royal Antwerp regarding Lammens.
