Nottingham Forest 0-3 West Ham United: Highlights, man of the match, stats as Hammers secure first victory KIK BALL
West Ham United pick up their first Premier League points of the season on Sunday afternoon as the Hammers secure a 3-0 win over Nottingham Forest.
West Ham United picked up their first Premier League points of the season on Sunday afternoon as the Hammers secured a 3-0 win over Nottingham Forest.
The first 45 minutes was played almost entirely in West Ham’s half, but the visitors done well to stifle Forest’s attack as the hosts had just one shot, while the best chance of the half fell to the Hammers as Lucas Paqueta forced Matz Sels into a superb stop, but the scores ultimately remained level at the break.
The second half was more of the same as Nottingham Forest searched for the opener, but West Ham stood firm until the final 10 minutes, when Crysencio Summerville‘s introduction changed the game for the visitors.
West Ham United scored three goals in quick succession in the final 10 minutes, with Jarrod Bowen, Paqueta and Callum Wilson all getting on the scoresheet, but super-sub Summerville stood out as the winger was heavily involved in all three of the Hammers’ goals, helping them secure all three points.
SPORTS MOLE’S VERDICT
West Ham United surprisingly switched to a back four for today’s game, but Graham Potter’s tactical swap certainly worked as the Hammers appeared far more defensively solid.
The visitors were able to limit Nottingham Forest to very few chances of note, with the hosts often resorting to speculative crosses as they aimed to find the opening goal.
The introduction of Summerville only improved West Ham’s performance, as the visitors became far more effective on the counter attack thanks to the winger’s pace and dribbling ability.
Summerville was heavily involved in all three goals for the Hammers, including winning the penalty for the second, and Potter will be delighted with the impact from the bench to help his side secure a much-needed victory after a miserable opening two matches.

What an introduction from Summerville, who picks the ball up and races towards the box before the ball drops to Bowen on the edge of the box.
Bowen drops back onto the ball and curls a first-time effort into the bottom corner – what a goal from the skipper!

Unbelievable, Wilson makes it three for West Ham!
Summerville involved yet again for West Ham, racing down the wing and laying the ball off to El Hadji Malick Diouf, who whips in a wonderful cross towards Wilson.
Wilson checks his run to lose his marker and meets the cross, heading into the floor and bouncing into the top corner.
MAN OF THE MATCH – CRYSENCIO SUMMERVILLE
Summerville only came onto the pitch in the 82nd minute, but the winger made the ultimate difference for the Hammers as they secured a 3-0 win.
The winger’s direct running led to the opening goal, he won the penalty for the second with a powerful run into the box and was involved in the build-up for the third.
In his first appearance since January, it is clear to see why the West Ham fans have missed him so much.
